Course Details

In this CPR course, you will learn skills in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, including:

  • Using an automated external defibrillator (AED)
  • How to rotate first aiders with minimal interruptions to compressions
  • What to do if the casualty regurgitates or vomits

The course also covers:

  • Conveying accurate incident details when handing the casualty over to emergency services
  • How to review an incident
  • Recognizing any psychological impacts on self and other rescuers
  • Seeking help if required and improving personal skills and response times

This course is delivered and assessed on behalf of Allens Training Pty Ltd RTO 90909 by Toowoomba Safety Training.

Unit Being Delivered:

The following unit will be included in your certificate:

  • HLTAID009 – Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

Course Delivery:

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at a facility organized by the training provider.

Entry Requirements:

Participants must have the physical capacity to perform practical demonstrations, such as 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on the floor and performing rescue breathing techniques on manikins.

Online study: Students must have access to a computer, smartphone, tablet, or other electronic devices with internet access to complete the online/pre-course studies.

Course Duration:

  • Refresher minimum duration: 90 minutes
  • Blended minimum duration: 90 minutes
  • Face-to-face minimum duration: 120 minutes
  • Online with face-to-face minimum duration: 20 minutes

Assessment Requirements:

Individuals undertaking this course will be expected to complete both written and practical assessment tasks.

Certificate Renewal Requirements:

This certificate has an industry-recommended renewal period of 12 months.

Assessment Activities:

Performance tasks and practical scenarios:

  • Perform CPR on an adult (including the use of an AED and placing a casualty into the recovery position)
  • Perform CPR on an infant

Theory assessment: A written assessment consisting of multiple-choice questions.
